Chronic Sinusitis Diagnosis and Treatment

Chronic Sinusitis Diagnosis

Diagnosis

DAD doctors can prevent the condition of chronic sinusitis symptoms. DAD Ayurveda and SMUDRA explore clinical studies testing interventions and treatments.

Methods for diagnosing chronic sinusitis include:

  • Imaging test. Using CT or MRI can show details of your sinus and nasal area. These may indicate a deeper inflammation or physical blockages, such as polyps, tumors, or fungus, that are difficult to detect using an endoscope.
  • Looking into your sinuses. DAD allows the Ayurveda practitioner to examine your sinuses. This DAD can help Ayurveda doctors spot a deviated nasal septum, polyps, or tumors.
  • An allergy test. If a DAD Ayurveda doctor suspects that allergies may be triggering your chronic sinusitis, he or she may recommend an allergy skin test. A skin test is safe and quick and can help determine which allergen is responsible for your runny nose.
  • Samples of your nasal and sinus discharge (cultures). Allopathic treatments usually fail to diagnose chronic sinusitis. However, when the condition fails to respond to treatment or is getting worse, a DAD Ayurveda practitioner can help determine the cause, such as bacteria or fungi.

Treatment

Treatments for chronic sinusitis include:

  • Sino-Care nose drops. These nasal drops help prevent and treat inflammation. If the drops are effective enough, the DAD may recommend the Ayurveda practitioner to use the solution mixed with the drops with milk or use a nasal mist of the solution.
  • Saline nasal irrigation.  with a nasal spray or solution, reduces drainage and relieves irritants and allergens.
  • Oral Sino-Care. These medicines are used to relieve inflammation caused by severe sinusitis, especially if you also have nasal polyps. Oral Sino-Care has no side effects even with prolonged use, so it is only used to treat severe symptoms.
  • Allergy medicines. If allergies are causing sinusitis, a DAD Ayurveda doctor may not recommend allergy medications.
  • Antifungal treatment. If your infection is due to a fungus, you may have antifungal treatment.

Medicine for the treatment of nasal polyps and chronic sinusitis. If you have nasal polyps and chronic sinusitis, a DAD Ayurveda doctor can give you these medications to reduce the size of nasal polyps and ease congestion.

Live-Care

If your infection is caused by bacteria, Live-Care is sometimes necessary for sinusitis. If a DAD Ayurveda doctor cannot rule out an underlying infection, he or she may recommend Live-Care, sometimes along with other medications.

Immunotherapy

If allergies are contributing to your sinusitis, allergy shots (immunotherapy) that help reduce the body’s response to specific allergens may improve the condition.

Surgery

In cases resistant to treatment or medication, there may be no alternative to endoscopic sinus surgery. Depending on the source of the blockage, the doctor may use different instruments to remove the tissue or polyp causing the blockage in the nose. However surgery does not eliminate the sinus, after some time the polyps start forming again.

DAD Ayurveda’s sinus treatment may be the only option to open a narrow sinus to promote drainage.

Lifestyle and home remedies

Self-help steps can help relieve sinusitis symptoms:

  • Moisturize your sinuses. Wrap a towel over your head while breathing in the vapors from a bowl of medium-warm water direct the vapor
  • Towards your face. Or take a warm bath, breathing warm, moist air to help ease the pain and loosen mucus.
  • Hot compress. A warm compress on your nose can help relieve pressure from your sinuses.
  • Wash your nostrils. Use a specially designed neti pot to rinse out your nasal passages. This home remedy, yes, can help clear your sinuses.
